The police have apprehended approximately 15 residents of Awoshie Mangoase in Accra for blocking portions of the Awoshie to Pokuase Highway.
Monday morning, residents blocked the road after a man was struck and killed by a vehicle.
They were decrying the frequency with which vehicles struck residents along the stretch.
They expressed concern over the fact that approximately 45 people have been injured by vehicles this year.
The residents urged authorities to construct speed ramps and repair the malfunctioning traffic lights along the stretch, as reported by Citi News.
“Since January 2024, approximately 45 people have been murdered in this area, and they just killed someone this morning. Despite repeated requests, they have refused to grant us a permit.
The inhabitants complained, “The police officers do not care about our concerns; they only come here when we become agitated.”
