5 Ways to Enjoy Your Outdoor Living Space All Year

When those warm summer nights have faded into the grey, overcast days, you may long for the time you could sit outside for hours. Normally once autumn hits, people tend to stay indoors and hibernate until the first signs of spring appear. But with a few simple changes, you can still enjoy your outdoor living space all year long. Here are 5 top tips to get you started.

  • Illuminate The Night Sky

In the summer, you’re blessed with long sunny days and the stars stay hidden until late. But the dark nights are ideal for fireworks! Normally fireworks for sale in the UK tend to disappear off shelves unless it’s Bonfire Night or New Year’s Eve. Why not organize a get-together and put on a show? Not only will you dazzle your guests, but you get to enjoy your outdoor space even in the chillier weather.

Winter is cold, there’s no escaping that. But there are ways you can bring warmth to your outdoor area. You could choose a fire-pit and entertain guests around it while toasting marshmallows. You might opt for portable heaters instead. This way you can sit anywhere you like and make the grey days warm.

Summer nights tend to be longer with a later sunset, so winter days by contrast seem so short.  By adding outdoor lighting you’ll really brighten up the area even on the darkest of days. Not only does the lighting look good, but it also provides a safety feature. You don’t want to be stumbling around in the dark!

When decorating an outdoor space, it’s a good idea to choose furniture that’s weatherproof. You’ll want sturdy tables and chairs that won’t get damaged by a storm or blow away in the wind. With furniture that can cope with harsher conditions, you won’t have to pack it all away when the sunshine begins to fade.

  • Bring The Indoors Outdoors

Why not look at getting an outdoor kitchen? If you’ve got the perfect heated seating area, you don’t want to head back inside to cook. Instead, outdoor kitchens provide an extra way to enjoy the space and it means you don’t have to leave your guests while you prepare the food.

There are some plants and flowers that thrive in the chillier weather, so why not change up your gardening routine and plan for the cold days too. They’ll also give you a reason to head outside as you’ll need to tend to them like you would your summer flowers. If you don’t have a green thumb, you could add potted fake plants and flowers. Not only are they durable, but you also won’t need to prune them.

Just because the scorching sun has disappeared for a few months, it doesn’t mean you need to abandon your outdoor space. By making small changes, you’ll be able to enjoy it no matter the weather and kick back outside all year round.
