Akufo-Addo, President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo has prioritized competence and capacity over political affiliations when it comes to his appointees, according to Deputy Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar.
She claims that President Akufo-Addo only chooses the “best hands” he thinks are capable of carrying out his plans and dreams for Ghana.
“The President of Ghana has demonstrated to Ghanaians over the years that he believes in competence and capacity when it comes to appointments.
For this reason, he selected a Special Prosecutor who was a current NDC member and had served as a running mate for an NDC presidential contender.
“The president by his actions has shown that he has not been preoccupied with gossip about who’s father comes from where and who’s mother comes from where and all the speculations and hearsay for his appointments,” she said on Accra-based TV3, according to the report.
She said the President should be commended for his efforts to make sure the security agencies are functioning properly.
“If Ghanaians are complimenting the security forces, their work, and their visibility, they should also mention President Akufo-Addo, who is providing them with the resources and infrastructure to improve their operations.”
Commenting on a video that had been released concerning a scheme to have Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Inspector-General of Police, removed from office, she stated the audio was untrue since no IGP could ever win an election for any party because elections are decided at the polls.
The topic of a recently leaked recording describing an alleged plot to remove IGP Dampare from office has dominated debates in the media and on social media.
Despite not naming any specific people, the leaked audio is said to feature a senior police officer and a member of the NPP who is supposedly involved in a bigger scheme to rig the 2024 elections.
