The American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course is taking place this week in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and is hosting some of the top celebrity players.
The event, which is entering its 34th year, will be covered by NBC Sports.
According to the tournament website, American Century Investments donates a portion of the $600,000 prize money to regional and local charity. For the Stowers Institute for Medical Research as well as regional organizations in California, South Tahoe, and Nevada, the tournament has raised more than $7 million.
The 54-hole modified Stableford competition takes place from Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16th.
Tony Romo, a three-time winner, is back to attempt a second back-to-back. He also prevailed in 2018 and 2019. This week’s favorite to win is him.
During his pre-tournament press conference on Thursday, Romo cautioned the field about a specific individual.
Stephen Curry will have more time than this year because he always arrives the week following, according to Romo. “The guess is that he’ll be in the mix this year.”
Romo and the media room noticed a pattern as Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors were eliminated earlier than usual in the playoffs.
Curry would subsequently explain how he either performs exceptionally well at the ACC or wins an NBA championship. He was able to spend more time on the course because the Dubs’ season came to a disappointing conclusion.
The most recent episode of The Match, which took place in June, had him and Klay Thompson competing against Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. In the end, the Chiefs pair defeated the Warriors duo.
Curry is competing in the American Century Championship for the tenth time this year. In 2020, 2017 and 2013, when he finished alone or tied for fourth, he had his finest results.
He placed 16th at the competition the previous year, although he has consistently been competitive.
With odds of 8-1, the four-time NBA champion is currently the sixth favorite to take home the trophy.
