Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has returned to Swansea City for treatment after picking up an injury on international duty.
The 30-year-old picked up a thigh injury during Ghana’s final training session for the return encounter against Sudan on Saturday.
The U-20 World Cup winner could not pass a late fitness test for the return game in Omdurman on Tuesday.
Ayew scored a brilliant brace in the 2-0 victory over Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Cape Coast last Thursday.
Ayew will undergo further checks to determine the extent of the injury.
The news come as a devastating blow for Swansea City as they hope to have their in-form forward for Saturday’s game against Rotherham United.
Ayew is likely to miss the Jack Army’s crucial encounters against Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and possibly Luton Town.
He has started the season remarkably, plundering 5 goals and providing 1 assist in 11 Championship appearances.
Swansea occupy 6th position with 19 points from 11 games.
