Around 900 tourists stranded in Sikkim due to heavy snowfall


Round 900 vacationers travelling in 89 cars have been stranded because of heavy snow fall whilst returning to the Sikkim capital from Nathula and Tsomgo Lake on Saturday night, police stated. The evacuation procedure, in collaboration with Military, was once underway and 15 cars have been rescued to this point, a police officer stated.

The heavy snow is being cleared slowly and the rescued cars leaving for Gangtok, 42 km away, he stated.

Some vacationers could have to spend the evening at a close-by camp of the Military, which has promised all required assist for the stranded vacationers, the officer added.

The management had just lately stopped issuing passes for Nathula and Tsomgo Lake for a couple of days because of heavy snow fall in East Sikkim.
