In-form Swansea City star, Andre Ayew netted a brace on Thursday evening to lead Ghana to an emphatic 2-0 win against Sudan in the qualifiers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
In a match played at the Cape Coast Stadium, the forward opened the scoring for the Black Stars in the 18th minute when he beautifully curled in a free-kick from the edge of the Sudan 18-yard box into the back of the net.
In the final minutes of the first half, the Ghana captain scored with a headed effort but it was ruled out after the referee for the day signaled for an infringement.
Later in the second half where the home team continued to dominate play, Andre Ayew scored with a thunderbolt strike from range in the 80th minute after receiving a pass from midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey.
Courtesy of today’s win, Ghana stays top of Group C of the qualifiers to the 2021 AFCON with 9 points.
