Former Theresa May adviser Nick Timothy will seek the Conservative nomination for Matt Hancock’s seat

Nick Timothy, the former chief of staff to Theresa May, will represent Matt Hancock’s seat in the upcoming general election.

The Conservative Party chose Mr. Timothy to run for Mr. Hancock’s seat in West Suffolk.

As a result of his appearance on ITV’s, I’m a Celebrity…, the former health secretary is now an independent member of the constituency’s legislature. Remove me from here! He will step down at the upcoming general election.

Covid-19 charities and families of the deceased, as well as politicians and some members of the local West Suffolk Conservative Association, reacted negatively to Hancock’s decision to appear on the reality TV program.

In 2019, Mr. Hancock claimed the seat with a majority of 23,000 votes.

It is believed that Mr. Timothy, who was one of Mrs. May’s most trusted advisers and worked with her when she was Home Secretary and Prime Minister, has close familial ties to the constituency.

Lance Stanbury, a local Conservative councilor, told PA News Agency that he was “delighted” that Mr. Timothy had been chosen.

I believe he will be a great candidate because he gave an excellent presentation today, is obviously well-versed in the policy, and understands all the issues facing West Suffolk.

Rachel Hood, the chairwoman of the West Suffolk Conservative Association, described the selection procedure as “rigorous, open, and transparent.”

She added, “We had a shortlist of candidates of the highest caliber, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who applied.”
