FRSC to crack down on trucks transporting both livestock and humans – Biu

Mr. Dauda Biu, Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), stated that the corps would crack down on the dangerous practice of livestock and human passengers sharing vehicles.

Biu disclosed this while conversing with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Maiduguri.

Biu observed that drivers transporting livestock and other goods from the northern regions of Nigeria to the southern regions were placing many lives at risk, especially when accidents occurred.

Biu stated that his business trip to Borno was one of the topics to be discussed with relevant parties, namely road transport unions.

“We are in Borno for a few days to assess the condition of our operatives.

“There are numerous issues and obstacles in this area, and we must bolster their morale.

“We also planned to meet with stakeholders, particularly road transport unions,” Biu explained.

Biu, who also addressed the issue of driving, particularly by some commercial bus drivers, stated that speed limit devices were necessary to regulate them.

He commended the Borno State Government for its continued support of the corps in the state and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the FRSC’s presence in Borno.

“The Borno State Government made our sojourn in the state extremely comfortable.

The corps marshal stated, “Due to measures taken by Governor Babagana Zulum, our men feel secure.”
