Governor Lawal seeks partnership with the World Bank for reliable mineral exploration in Zamfara | The Guardian Nigeria News

The governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has urged the World Bank to collaborate with his state in the exploration of the region’s copious solid mineral deposits for the benefit of the local population.

Lawal spoke on Friday during a dinner with the president of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

As part of his global tour, the president of the World Bank was in Nigeria to meet with key stakeholders about intensifying development efforts in the country.

The banquet was also attended by the governors of Anambra, Borno, Edo, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, and Oyo, according to a press release issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

According to the state, Lawal also praised the World Bank for its “client-centered approach and results-driven interventions.”

According to the statement, “Governor Lawal praised Ajay’s vision for a client-centered strategy and result-oriented interventions.

“The Governor urged the Bank’s leadership to be more adaptable and audacious, and to assist in attracting private capital for development.

“He further conveyed the Zamfara State Government’s willingness to collaborate on the exploration of its mineral deposits for the benefit of its people.

The President of the World Bank, Mr. Ajay Banga, emphasized the Bank’s determination to work differently, adopting more collaborations and engagement flexibility.
