Midfielder Thomas Partey has revealed that he could not sleep a night before his move to Arsenal.
The 27-year-old dynamic midfielder joined the Premier League giants from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day.
Arsenal triggered Partey’s €50 million buyout clause before landing the player.
“Well, until the last moment I was not aware,” Partey told Arsenal.com.
“My agent called me and said it was going to happen, and I was so happy. I could not even sleep that night – it was a great feeling.
“I was so happy, I was excited. I was not even here yet and [the fans] were crazy over me, they wanted me to join the club.
“I received a lot of messages saying, ‘Join the club or we are not sleeping!’ – it was a great feeling,” he added.
The Black Stars deputy captain will wear the number 18 shirt.
Partey spent eight years at Atletico Madrid having joined them as a teenager in 2012.
He won the Europa League, Uefa Super Cup, and played in the 2016 Champions League final with Atletico.
