Security Analyst resignation to IGP

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police, has been requested to resign if he cannot withstand the pressure from the political appointees.

Paul Boateng, a security analyst, argued that it is preferable for the IGP to resign when the applause is loudest than to remain in office and lose his integrity.

In an interview with Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, the CEO of the Africa Center for Security and Intelligence Studies made the request.

According to him, the current exposé regarding the conspiracy to remove the IGP merely proves that Dr. Dampare is not the favorite of many in the New Patriotic Party government.

Some political actors are attempting to attract the attention of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Security Analyst stated.

Given Dr. Dampare’s professionalism and exceptional leadership, Mr. Boateng believes it will be difficult for this strategy to succeed.

“The IGP has successfully transformed the Ghana Police Service. “I am his biggest critic, but he has performed exceptionally well,” he emphasized.

Mr. Boateng stated, however, that if the IGP believes the government is pressuring him to bend the rules in its favor, he should resign to defend his integrity.
