Six migrant laborers were allegedly intentionally struck by an SUV outside a North Carolina Walmart on Sunday.
The migrants were hospitalized with a variety of injuries, but none were life-threatening, according to a statement from the Lincolnton Police Department.
The driver described as an older white male, fled and was still being sought as of Sunday night, according to police.
Officials did not identify the make and model of the SUV, but it appears to be a dark color, possibly black, in security video images distributed by police. The government hopes that someone will recognize it and disclose it.
The incident was reported at 1:17 p.m. at Walmart, according to the department.
Six migrant laborers were apparently intentionally struck by a vehicle, according to the report.
Lincolnton is located approximately 35 miles north of Charlotte.
It is unclear where the migrants originated. Although authorities believe the act was deliberate, they have not indicated that it may have been motivated by bias.
“The motives of the suspect are still under investigation,” stated the department.
