By way of confirming the development, the state police command in Minna’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that local police had gathered information about their affiliation with a robbery gang and their participation in a conspiracy, which allowed for their capture.

He explained that the suspects were apprehended on July 20, 2023, along the Kaduna-Abuja highway at Sabon-Wuse Tafa LG in a Volkswagen Sharon with registration number LKJ 739 BJ.

He claimed that nine men suspected of having criminal intent were inside the vehicle’s body, which was filled with bullet holes.

He explained that preliminary investigation has revealed that the syndicate has been attacking and breaking trucks and containers along main roads and stealing the items and property contained therein.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and claimed they have a facility in Akwanga where they store the stolen goods before selling them in Kano State.
