The biannual Webometrics ranking of Polytechnics in the country, published in July 2023, placed Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in first place for the sixth consecutive time.
This is stated in a statement signed by Mr. Joe Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar of YABATECH, Lagos, on Saturday.
Ejiofor stated that the College moved up two positions, displaced other universities, increased the gap between the College and the first runner-up polytechnic by 17 positions, and enhanced its position from January 2023.

According to Ejiofor, Webometric is a classification of institutions of higher education that incorporates both Webometric and Bibliometric (research) indicators.
The Webometrics ranking is based on the impact of web content, the most-cited researchers, and online research and publication platforms.
The primary objective is to promote open access to institution-generated knowledge.
This success is attributable to the management’s consistent support of pertinent research units within the college.
“In particular, by providing the instruments necessary for the Center for Information and Technology Management (CITM) to work professionally on the academic community-specific website.
“The goal was to facilitate the publication of their journals on high-impact platforms,” he explained.
Ejiofor remarked that the institution had implemented strategies to improve its ranking by increasing the quantity and caliber of its web content.
Previously, the statement stated that Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, Rector of YABATECH, upon assuming office on May 22, 2023, and in accordance with his resolute agenda, pledged to elevate the college to the pinnacle of academic excellence.
According to the statement, this was accomplished by putting in place the necessary structure to allow the College to grow and assume its place among its global peers.
